Nowadays, almost every facet of our lives is digitalized. Be it from studying for an educational course, sharing information with each other, watching movies or simply shopping, it seems like internet has been ruling over everywhere.  Among all these, E-Commerce is one of the most common yet significant area.

E-commerce, or Electronic Commerce, is the buying and selling of goods through some online medium. These goods can vary from daily-use groceries to heavy, commercial machinery. The multiple advantages of this process, such as easy selection from a wide range of products, less time consumption and tailored customer experience, make it a way of hassle-free shopping, hence increasing its popularity among people.

Effective E-commerce experience:

Keeping in mind the fame of e-commerce, it is important to provide the customers with such a user experience, that they are left satiated and are inclined to return to the same platform to shop again every time, resulting in the success of one’s business.

Thus, there are some points that have to be followed in order to ensure a delightful experience for the customers. Some of the important ones are explained below:

  • Focus on the User

It is no secret that users always feel more attracted to customized things. They choose to interact with businesses that arrange tailored proposals for them. Providing them with useful goods with appropriate prices, cheap shipping, occasional discount offers and easy-to-use interface are a sure technique to guarantee the contentment of the customers.

  • Clear Product description

High resolution images of the original product as well as its well-explained description is always a must when selling something. All the important features of the product, e.g. its functionality, warranty, availability, size, weight and other dimensions should be included in the description. The price and shipping per amount should also be clearly mentioned. Any ambiguity can make the user lose interest in the product, and sometimes even in the respective seller.

  • Distinct Action Elements

The elements of the application via which the users interact with it, like buttons, search bar, product lists, category tabs, data forms etc. should be clearly visible and usable for them. Selection of the products should be easy, and each action should show clear results to avoid any kind of confusion among the customers.

  • Contact information

It is observed that users mostly prefer to buy from platforms who provide their contact information. Email addresses or social media links not only help users to confirm the authenticity of the business, they also assure that the customer queries would be entertained by someone from the company.

  • Efficient Search functionality

The items available through one’s site should be easily searchable by the users. It is better to categorize and distribute them according to their usage or some other general grouping system, so that the users are able to find the needed products quickly.

  • Good Speed

If a page of the visited website loads slowly, users tend to get annoyed and leave the site, whereas visiting a speedy website makes them feel pleased and even curious to explore more. Avoid the overuse of heavy elements such as images or videos in the website content, to make it easier and quicker to load on the server.

  • Attractive Design

No matter how good the content of an application is, it would fail to be useful unless the user is appealed to see it in the first place. A compelling and eye-catching design is always one of the most important factors when it comes to an effective user experience.

Use of clean and clear design patterns with bright colors is one of the most common way to do so.

  • Previous order history

It is always a good approach display the history of the previous orders a user had placed along with other important details such as the bills, date of order placement and delivery etc. This benefits the users in case they want to keep a record of their orders or buy a product again.

  • 24/7 Customer Service

The success of a business is directly proportional to how positive is one’s relationship with their customers. This can be maintained not only by good content, but also by active communication with the users. The availability of continuous customer service is very essential to achieve this goal. This can be successfully done by offering multiple options, for example a FAQs section, contact links on popular mediums and support via phone and live chat with professional representatives.

  • User Testing

All modules should be tested frequently from the customer’s point of view. It helps one in understanding how the users would be interacting with their platform, and what further improvements are needed to make them feel more comfortable with the interface.

  • Customer Feedback

The requirements of the customers are continuously changing and evolving with time. Hence, it is vital to keep the application up-to-date by seeking frequent feedback from them. Surveys and questioners are some popular ways that could be used to collect the customer response.

Conclusion

The modern era has been clearly foreseen to be a digitalized one. People are inclined towards businesses who adapt with the latest technologies and provide modern solutions. From a commercial point of view, the internet provides businesses with many advantages like global audience, along with the benefit of lower business costs.

A good online platform to run the trade, i.e. a web or mobile application, raises the possibility of its success to a higher level. Effective e-commerce can be only done through pleasing the costumers by taking care of their needs and providing convenience to them in terms of user experience and interaction.
